Real NW Wedding :: Beside the Seaside
Some weddings that are worth tens of thousands don't even compare to some that are full of DIY and local love. (I'm just sayin')
Sent to us by one of our very very very favorite Portland Wedding Photographers, Alice and Josh of Mosca Photo -this wedding is by far one of my all time favorites of 2010. The DIY details and whimsy of this event are what make it so memorable. I am always saying to clients that it's those little details that make the event the most memorable, even if the details are quirky, inexpensive and small.
See exactly what I mean...Hillary and Nick's wedding is full of love and DIY whimsical details that make this event a one of a kind masterpiece.
From Mosca Photo:: This wedding was all about the details. Hillary spent time and put in so much effort in order to make the day the way it was. Everything you see in these images is hand made, by her! All DIY. From the hand written invitations, to the table and sand decorations, to the gorgeous bouquets! It all came out of Hillary's brilliant mind.

The day was gorgeous to start. Warm and rain free. The ceremony happened without a hitch. Her father married them, which was oh so sweet! Then they had all of the kids grab bracelets with long strands of fabric and they RAN down the aisle in celebration to the sounds of vibrant and happy music. Fantastic!

I think Hillary's bouquet is what did it for me, natural and non foral! L-O-V-E it. I bet she can keep it for the rest of her lifetime and it will look just the same...
Groupings of paper lanterns added extra whimsy to the event look. Easy-made pinwheels took the place of traditional floral.
STEAL THIS IDEA:: Painted letters can personalize any event design. Be creative with the letters, don't just use them for initials -say something!

CONGRATULATIONS to Nick & Hillary for being true to themselves and having a completely original wedding design. The images are beautiful and Hillary is quite possibly one of the most gorgeous brides I've yet to see. Wishing you a lifetime a love and spontaneous moments.

Alice and Josh of Mosca Photo are two very special Portland Wedding Photographers and may just have your 2011 wedding date available...if you happen to be in the market for a photographer I'd say:
Tell them you saw their work on So This is Bliss!

Luxe Find :: Cake Stands and Votives
Since most
wedding/event venues do not allow open flame we are all forced to use votives, hurricanes and glass cylinders to encase our flickering candles. This being said, this idea to the left is one of my favorites, I have been using it for years in my own home. It's so simple, cost effective and lends to a glitzy feel.
It's just a simple glass cake stand with glass votives and tea lights.
Elevate a variety of sparkling crystal candle containers on a footed tray or cake stand. Glitzy touches like mirror, glitter, or even some artificial snow adds glam and dimension under the candles. (I have used tiny square mirror pieces under mine before, looks great!)
You can buy these glass cake stands at: Home Goods, TJMaxx, Ross, Marshalls, Target etc (all for $20 and under!) For added drama I would group 3 glass cake stands (always group in odd numbers) on the large tables, in various heights too. Place some glass votives on the table around the stands as well.

Luxe Idea :: Creative Tables
Such a creative idea. Cost effective too! I say try, try, try, to think outside the box, allow your thoughts to run wild when thinking of your wedding day. Your day is supposed to only happen once so make it ultra special by incorporating things you both enjoy into your decor. If you like the outdoors consider something like this above. Get creative and have fun.How creative will you be for your wedding?

Real Wedding :: Captured by Portland Wedding Photographer Wayne Toshikazu
Believe it or not many people now days do not incorporate God into their wedding ceremony, which is fine I guess -who am I to judge. But I what I will say is I LOVE God and I love when a couple embraces that in their ceremony. Much like the couple Portland Wedding Photographer Wayne Toshikazu worked with below. Wayne Toshikazu is hands down, by far one of my very very very favorite photographers, he's uber kind and loving, calm and relaxed every time I see him. His clients love him and always are thankful I introduced them. Thinking about who your wedding photographer should be? Hard to pick huh? There are so many! However, you really don't need to stress, Wayne's your guy. I promise you will not regret it.

See more of Wayne Toshikazu's work and more of this beautiful wedding on Wayne's Blog.

Inspired by Love :: Shut up and Kiss Me!
I'm a sucker for dreamy light in wedding photography...these just caught my eye and I just knew you'd love...The little notes are adorable and a creative way to keep the good times rollin' during the reception. Infusing little "cheeky" elements like these are fun for guests and make fantastic photo opps!
