Real Wedding :: Destination Hawaii!

Scott McNamara, one of our Luxe NW 7 Featured Wedding Photographers captured this colorful and laid back wedding recently in Hawaii, yep a traveling Portland Wedding Photographer...I swear we all secretly hate him becasue he seems to get all the destination wedding clients. I mean really, who wouldn't want someone to pay you to shoot their wedding in Hawaii?! Scott seems to get all the fun traveling brides as he has been all over the country capturing weddings like this one below with his ever so talented trigger finger...

Scott currently is on location in Florida shooting another destination wedding...see, really I wasn't kidding when I said we all secretly hate him...umm, it's raining right now in the Northwest...get my drift?

Casual and laid back this Hawaii destination wedding is just the kind of wedding to make you want to have a destination event.
Colorful mix matched dresses from David's Bridal looked flirty and fun with bare feet in the sand...
A simple aisle way of rocks and flower petals lined a path for the bride and groom.
Guests had sarongs on the sand laid out for their seats...see you don't always need to rent chairs for a beach wedding, sometimes it's fitting to just encourage bare feet and a casual attendance.

Real Wedding :: A Vintage Carnival Inspired Event

This fun and uber colorful event I saw on Ruffled {Just another wedding blog we love!} it was shot by Laura Novak and it's so fun and flirty you must see...
Yep, great idea huh? I know what you're thinking..."candy?" Yep! Totally cost effective and definitely original. Colorful and playful designs creating by the groom set the tone for this custom event.

Simple colored mason jars with a single ribbon look great with gumballs, don't they? I mean really? Who would have thought? I will be saving this one...

Be Inspired By Color

I first saw this image below, the one on the left with the huge letters behind the altar and clicked...then it opened up into a totally fun feature from Martha Stewart Weddings...Married in St. Louise, Cheree and Jeff (a designer and lawyer) created one heck of a colorful event using one of my favorite wedding color palettes, blue, red and orange. Take a look...they not only have a fun and inviting palette but the DIY items in this event are noteworthy too. Here are those details we love so much...
From Martha Stewart Weddings:: Giant signs spell out the sentiment of the day; attendants will turn the signs to reveal "XOXO" after the announcement, "You may kiss the bride."

Laughter is something that comes naturally to Cheree. As owner of Cheree Berry Paper, a stationery and graphic-design company, her goal, she says, is always "to evoke a big smile." And that's surely the reaction Cheree and Jeff's wedding guests had when they opened their mailboxes to find thick, creamy envelopes addressed in swirls of red calligraphy, with the words love mail printed in the corner -- all designed, of course, by the bride herself. Different printing techniques (including engraving and letterpress), unexpected touches (the origami chart of St. Louis attractions), and fanciful details (the bee on the reply card) give a richly layered feel. Cheree, deeming a palette of reds, oranges, and pinks "too perfect," laced it with robin's egg blue.
Sitting alongside a bowl of chocolate pennies, the his-and-hers grab bags are arranged on risers for guests to choose from.
Everything to do with their September 13 wedding bore Cheree's creative imprint, from the jaw-dropping invitation suite to the charming paper "chargers" on the tables to the nostalgic touches that punctuated the event. Cheree created light-pink card-stock "chargers" printed with their names and wedding date. The trumpeter on the place card (which doubles as a menu) hints at Jeff's love of music. A card invites guests to save room for dessert. Just behind it is a port glass with a chocolate and a monogrammed tag balanced on top. For the centerpiece, dahlias, zinnias, and roses form a neat dome.

Oversize white napkins letterpressed in red add a punch of color.
Cheree wears a Carolina Hererra lace gown and carries a bouquet of red, pink, and orange ranunculus with a single tiny golden bee -- one of the motifs she often uses in her work as a stationer -- perched among the flowers. The embroidered hankie, her something blue, is a gift from Martha Stewart Weddings editorial director Darcy Miller.
A magical moment in a stylish setting. To make the loft-style reception site "really feel like us," says Cheree, she and Jeff hung several 16-by-12-foot vinyl banners printed with Cheree's designs. This "Just Married" banner makes a fitting backdrop for the newlyweds' kiss.

Click & Tell :: Come on in, the water's fine...

This session is the perfect example of how inspiring love can be. Shot in SE Portland Oregon's Rejuvenation -a local home fixtures and hardware store...Who would have thought old claw foot bath tubs would make such a great engagement session prop? Portland Wedding Photographer, Jessica Hill, that's who. Well, we can't give her all the cred' the scene was set where it was because Kami and Brett just bought their first home and love to do projects together so it seemed fitting...Jessica and I have been chatting a bit via email recently when she sent me this adorable and totally original engagement session "Come on in, the water's fine"...cute. Completely.
From Jessica Hill:: Kami and Brett are such an awesome couple who are getting married in May of this year. For their engagement session we had quite the adventure! We started at an architectural salvage shop because K&B just bought their first home together and love to work on home projects together.
Then we went to the waterfront beneath the Hawthorne bridge to document where they first met. I was completely inspired by their story and their positive energy and I can't wait to be a part of their wedding soon!
