{5 Simple Stunning Tips for the Holiday Host} by Karen Bussen:
Written by Karen Bussen and the original content and image was found on her blog: Atmosphere: Designed Fresh Daily

It's the most festive time of the year! Why not invite friends and family to celebrate the season with you? Here are a few tips to help you put together an easy, elegant holiday gathering. Cheers!
  1. Narrow drink choices to make planning the party easy and more economical
  2. Mark each guest's glass with a colorful mini-bow or use an assortment of glasses to avoid mix-ups
  3. For a simple stunning twist or your party soundtrack, combine traditional music with new holiday offerings from your favorite artists
  4. For decor, choose a fresh winter-inspired color palette for your party. Metallics and white are hot this year, so why not accent with bold reds or modern icy blues
  5. Clear away clutter and move chairs away from your dining table so that guests can access food and drinks easily

Luxe Find :: Rings that Bling

Not sure about you but I am a lover of all things "cocktail" and when I say that I mean I seem to be drawn to the items you would wear out cocktail-ing. You know, cocktail dresses and the case in point here -cocktail rings. I think they are perfect bridesmaid gifts or even mother of the bride gifts.

Ok so, I can tell you all the places in town that you can buy awesome jewels from -even at a great price...however I have to admit that I personally shopped at Nordstrom for my bridal jewels and gifts and so did many of my girls who married last year. Their selection is just too good all in one place and who has ever challenged their customer service knows what I mean when i say "It's the Nordstrom Way".

I mean really, it IS the very best and you really do feel like you are a millionaire while your shopping. I am a sucker for customer service. All these rings were found on Nordstrom{.com} and there are many more where these came from. I suggest buying now as the holiday is posing some great markdowns!

Perfect for 2010 brides on the hunt for some bling!

Luxe Style :: Layered in Love

Good morning! I was surfin' the web last night, just chillin' while watching Sunday night football, when I noticed one of my favorite trends emerging on the runway of some of the worlds best gown designers. The trend that caught my eye is that many of the 2010 dresses are dawning a very feminine layered look. Ruffles and folds galore. Many of these layered looks are often very flattering for women and hide nearly anything you want to cover or on the flip side they enhance those areas many of us want bigger {wink}
All images were found on Brides and captured by Dan Lecca; I listed each of the designers on the images for easy searching too.

Fabulous looks though? I am lovin' the layers for sure.

What do you think? Would you wear one or are there too many layers?

Joy to the World , the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.

Silent Night

Merry Christmas the Lord has come.

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Savior is born
Christ, the Savior is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth "

Twas the Night Before Christmas...

...when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mama in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

December Entertaining:: Christmas Red

What I love about holiday inspirations are that they are perfect spring boards for wedding inspiration. Not only for winter weddings but for weddings throughout the entire year. I came across this contemporary red and white holiday inspiration from Pottery Barn and just thought it was fantastic.

The red star lanterns, the striped seat pillows and this reindeer candle holder caught my eye right away. I am a reindeer lover, there's at least one of the little guys in every room of tmy house during the holiday season...

This holiday inspiration is eye catching because it's simple. Monochromatic colors mixed with rustic and charming natural elements tie the whole look together. This monochromatic look works well with all events.
:: You can buy these red paper star lanterns online for really cheap. Cut and make your own large snowflakes to hang along with the lanterns. If you don't know how to make your own snowflake just click HERE and watch a video tutorial.

If you are doing this look for the holidays snowflakes are perfect but if not for the holiday you can sub round ball shaped lanterns instead of snowflakes if you are doing this look for a wedding. Ooooo, OR retro paper wedding bells would be fantastic!

:: Bring in some pine cones you've collected from the yard or from around the neighborhood, or you can just as easily buy your own from a local market or craft store. For the holiday add some glass Christmas ball ornaments to the mantel and side tables with clusters of pine cones in all different sizes.

:: Stock up on your reindeer too! You can buy many on sale right now at Pottery Barn, like the large one in the photo above. This is the perfect time to start thinking about next year's "new" theme as everything is on sale now with the season drawing to an end.

This modern red, white and silver look is beautiful and totally a fun one with the hanging stars and snowflakes. It would make a fantastic look for a red and white winter wedding.

We are so excited for 2010 and know it will be one incredible year. So many good times to be had...

December Entertaining:: Simple and Earthy

Simplistic and earthy, this holiday inspiration comes from on of my favorite places, Pottery Barn. I get a kick out of Pottery Barn becasue they have an amazing inspiration/marketing team, you can tell. Since I worked in corporate marketing and events for so long I find a great deal of professional inspiration for my own events when I see stellar marketing efforts employed from companies like Pottery Barn.

Let's talk about these images above; so easy to pull off and relativity inexpensive. If you notice the tree in the back on the left is full of butterflies and shades of teal and deep blue...let's break it down...

:: Chartreuse green pillows really steal the show when nestled on a creamy latte colored sofa. This color may not be a "year-round" color for you but I suggest buying some seasonal pillows and store them in plastic storage bins in between seasons.

:: Simple evergreen swag piece coupled with matching ribbon and a few glass ornaments on the coffee table pull the whole room together.
Pull the evergreen branches to create your swag from your own yard or a near by park -find branches that look as fresh as possible and that have already fallen on the ground.

:: Nostalgic mercury glass ornaments grouped in a wooden salad bowl and mixed with bright green moss bring a old world feeling into this modern room.
Moss can be bought at your local craft store for the best price. Store it in dry place in between seasons, it should keep for years.

:: Butterfly ornaments -both whimsical and playfully they swarm the tree as if they were real.
I love, love, love this look. The more butterflies the better. When you think you've placed enough on the tree -add more!

LUXE IDEA::

Complete the entire look by making a DIY evergreen and butterfly wreath to hang on a nearby wall or in the foyer.

Luxe Find :: Bridal Shoe that Rocks!

LUXE FIND:: Jessica Simpson "Hardy" Slingback

Umm, can you say H-O-T? This shoe is killer; full of bling, glitz, and glam!

Even though it is not considered a bridal shoe it should be, it rocks! So I am dubbing it a "bridal shoe"...why not right? Furthermore, for only $98 it's a steal.

Slingbacks are my favorite type of shoe, as they seem to be a heel you can wear for long periods of time. Longer then a regular pump, especially since they are peep toe too. So hot!

I love them. What do you think?

Something Blue

One of my very favorite things about my own wedding was my "something blue". A few days before the wedding Greg bought me a stunning 2 karat sapphire, topaz and diamond cocktail ring for my right hand to be my "something blue". I adore that ring as much as my engagement ring and wedding bands and think a blue cocktail ring is such a fun "something blue" and you can wear it all the time! Money well spent I'd say.

So I have created a listing of blue right hand rings that might just become your "something blue". All the rings listed here are from local retailers so you will be able to head into the store yourself and try one on.

This one on top is my favorite! It's a beauty for sure. From Carl Greve's Beaudry Collection this ring is a dream for sure as it is well and I mean WELL out of most people's price range but nonetheless absolutely stunning...one can dream, right?

Real Wedding Feature :: Vermont Charm

I found this on Green Wedding Shoes yesterday and just had to share. This Vermont wedding stole my heart when I saw their bridal party photos, I was so impressed with the maids carrying crosses instead of nogays. Needless to say I fell in love right away; then I opened up the rest of the post and again -in love... I couldn't believe my eyes, even though it was rainy -they made the best of it and when I say the "best" I mean it. I'm not sure I would have been so cool with it...I think I would have just cried. Look at how adorable the event was though. Rain boots, umbrellas and all. This event was so original and just quaint. See...rain doesn't have to ruin your day, take cue from Jonathan and Mindy!

You must head over to Green Wedding Shoes to see the rest. The crosses and Jonathan's suit alone were enough to swoon over..OMG-seriously I am not sure if I could love a bridal party photo anymore then I do this one below with the crosses...
...and the groom's suit...the stiching, the tie, the jacket, original and terribly chic.

Ohhhh the chandeliers! I freakin' love them! Classic, elegant and a bit whimsical too. What topped of this practically perfect event was that they served a big country breakfast for dinner!!! (sausage and egg casserole, pumpkin stuffed french toast, crispy bacon, cheese grits and then doughnut holes with dipping sauces for dessert) Original and completely a fun idea for guests. It was a surprise too...
All images were captured by Brooklyn based photographer Susan Stripling -fantastic job Susan! We love, love, love your work!

Winter Wedding Inspirations :: From Around the Web

Next are 2 I've been eying over at The Perfect Palette. Where there are inspiration a plenty and it's hard to choose just a few but these 2 I just think are great.

Oh There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays::

In hues of green winter garland and crisp snow...I fell for this one becasue of it's classic green and whites, the maids dress suggestion is darling too; the Christmas-tree-green hue is so complimentary and traditional. visit The Perfect Palette to see all those details we love so much and make sure to leave a comment to let her know you love it as much as I do!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year::

In colors of Christmas red and holiday gingerbread this board is cutesy and fun! It would be great for a couple who wanted to use recycled papers...This board is yummy! Visit The Perfect Palette to see the details on this fun one.

This last one is a stunner. Not your typical holiday colors. Which is why I love it! From Snippet and Ink this board's full of dreamy images, rich tones and originality. Fantastic board!

Saturday Sleep-in Feature :: Real NW Wedding :: Classic and Traditional

This was by far the most traditional and classic wedding I received all year. Shot by Luxe NW 7 Featured Photographer, Sara Gray, this wedding was tender and completely romantic. Married in Spokane Washington Annie and Dan's wedding was an understated autumn affair nonetheless perfectly romantic; Annie's dress was what stole the show -for me at least. The traditional combo of warm champagne hues and seasonal autumn floral pulled this classic stunner all together in one beautifully charming package.

From Sara Gray:: The ceremony was held at Christ the Redeemer Church in Spokane, where Annie’s family goes to church. It is on the National Register of Historic Places in Spokane

From Sara Gray:: It was a cloudy day in Spokane, threatening rain, but Annie wasn’t even fazed. She was totally calm, spending time with her friends as the anticipation built. It was her wedding day, and Annie was such an elegant, collected bride.

Dan and Annie chose not to see each other before the wedding, and when couples decide to do that, there is a really great anticipation in the air throughout all the preparations. And that moment when they flung open the doors to the church and she was standing there with her dad, the look on Dan’s face was pure excitement.
From Sara Gray:: One of my favorite details from Dan and Annie’s wedding was the 1956 white Cadillac convertible they drove away in. Annie’s dad bought it once with the twinkle of an idea that his daughters could use it as a getaway car at their weddings. It was a huge hit, as were the bubbles when the happy couple left the church to head to their reception.
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful wedding with us Sara! You captured each moment in it just beautifully. Also congratulation to Dan & Annie! Annie you were a gorgeous bride.

Check out even more from this wedding on Sara's Site
